About Health Practice Creations

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. I am an admitted Solicitor in the Supreme Court of New South Wales. I held the position of In-House Solicitor for the Australian Medical Association (NSW) for four years and worked as a Solicitor for AMA(NSW) external legal advisers, TressCox Solicitors, prior to that.

I have assisted practitioners with advice in relation to medico-legal, workplace issues and general procedural matters pertaining to various aspects of the health practice.

I hold a Certificate IV in Business and a Diploma in Practice Management. Not only have these courses provided me with the skill and knowledge I need to run my own business but it has provided me with an in-depth insight into the operations of a Health Practice.

I have presented seminars throughout Australia in relation to various issues including Privacy, Medical Records, Business Structures, Risk Management, Theft & Fraud, Medical Reception, Communication & Negotiation, Occupational Health & Safety, Workers Compensation and other related topics. I have written articles on a monthly basis for the AMA(NSW) publication NSW Doctor and have also provided articles and interviews to many other medical and legal journals.

I began my promotion of awareness on the various aspects involved in setting up and managing a health practice with the publication of a regular column into many of the College's and Association's newsletters and/or journals. These articles have also been distributed across national borders to countries such as New Zealand . I am pleased to have started a new column in the Australasian Dental Practice journal in 2006.

Keep an eye out in your Association/Industry journal. It's likely you'll come across one of my regular columns dealing with administrative, legal and financial functions of the Practice.

I have spent the last couple of years at the forefront speaking with medical, dental, veterinary and other allied health practitioners about their experiences in setting up a private practice, the obstacles they faced and the difficulties experienced along the way. This inside knowledge has allowed me to formulate a streamlined process, side stepping the usual traps.

It became very obvious to me that those who had gone through the process of establishing a health practice would have benefited from a service such as this, and those who wished to enter into private practice, but are too afraid to undertake such a daunting process, would not do it all without the benefit of this service.
